Vietnamese PM, Swiss President meet

VGP – Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on Thursday met Swiss President Doris Leuthard in Davos, Switzerland.

President Doris Leuthard highly spoke of positive economic results attained by Việt Nam in 2009 despite harmful impacts of the global economic recession.

Firmly believing in the bright prospects of the Việt Nam-Switzerland relationship in the future, the host President expected that the upcoming visit to Switzerland by Vietnamese State President Nguyễn Minh Triết, slated for May this year, will be a great success turning a new page for the bilateral cooperation.

According to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, potentialities and opportunities for economic, trade and investment cooperation between Việt Nam and Switzerland remain enormous. He asked the Swiss Government to support mutual-benefit cooperation of the two business communities.

The Vietnamese leader also suggested Switzerland recognize Việt Nam as a market economy, help the country take part in the multilateral trade system and expand its economic ties with Switzerland.

Apart from ODA for socio-economic priorities, Việt Nam wants to receive Switzerland ’s assistance in nurturing experts and highly-qualified staff to work in tourism, finance, banking, and technology, said PM Dũng.
