Gov't plans to expand special-use forest area

VGP – Viet Nam will increase special-use forests from the current 2.2 million hectares to 2.4 million by 2020, according to a plan approved by the PM recently.

The plan aims to preserve and develop important natural ecosystems, cultural and historal landscapes, as well as endangered, precious, and rare species in these forests. 

By 2020, the country will have 34 national parks, 58 natural reserves, 14 conservation areas, 61 protected landscape areas and forests for scientific research. 

The projected forest system will be separated into eight regions including the Northwest, the Northeast, the Red River Delta, the North Central Coast, the South Central Coast, the Central Highlands, the Southeast and the Mekong River Delta./.
