Gov’t to tighten management over cars bearing diplomatic number plates
VGP – The Government has tasked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Public Security to immediately review the management over cars bearing diplomatic number plates.
Prior to October 25, 2012, the Ministry of Finance must report the formulation of provisions on import, re-export, demolition and transfer of cars operated by objects enjoying diplomatic privileges and immunities, to the Prime Minister.
It is estimated that by the end of August 2009, there had been over 4,000 cars imported and operated by the aforesaid objects. Many of the figure are wrongly used.
