The airport is classified as 4F grate based on the standards by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
The Hải Phòng International Airport will compose of functional areas such as runways, platforms, airfields, cargo and passenger terminals, flight management area, and aviation industry area, as well as an airport city.
The Ministry of Transport was asked to develop the Planning Scheme for the Airport.
