The city has maintained an economic growth rate of over 13% in recent years and especially recorded 13.84% in 2010.
The city’s economic structure has shifted to a direction to which the industry-construction sector accounted for 56.5%, trade and service, 44.2% and agriculture, 1.31%.
Per capita income is estimated at VND 39.45 million, which is five times higher than the rate recorded three years ago.
In 2010, the province’s total budget collection reached VND 1,063 billion.
The city is upgrading urban and social infrastructure, building functional works and pushing up the construction tempo of big traffic projects.
Việt Nam has three first-grade, centrally-governed cities, including Hải Phòng, Đà Nẵng and Cần Thơ and seven first-grade, provincially-governed cities, consisting of Huế, Vinh, Đà Lạt, Nha Trang, Quy Nhơn, Buôn Ma Thuột, Thái Nguyên and Nam Định.
