PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng: VN wants to cement ties with emerging economies
VGP - PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had a working session with President of the Asia Development Bank (ADB) Haruhiko Kuroda, former President of the Republic of Bolivia Carlos Mesa, and former President of the United Mexican States Vicente Fox who are all participating the Global Emerging Market Economies Forum 2008 in Hà Nội. The reception was delivered in the afternoon of June 1.
| | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and the guests - Photo: VGP | PM Dũng praised the success of the Global Emerging Market Economies Forum 2008 in Việt Nam, attracting over 70 representatives from countries and territories all over the world. Through the Forum, Việt Nam can share and exchange experience and information with emerging economies in Asia, Latin America, Africa in particular and have better insight in the global economy, the PM stated. He also stressed that the topics placed on the table at the Forum are practical for the emerging economies, especially for Việt Nam, to map out economic development policies. Briefing the country’s socio-economic situations for the first half of year and the Government's prioritized solutions to rein in inflation and stabilize macro-economy, PM Dũng asserted that the Vietnamese economy is an indispensable component of the world economy, then the Government is well-prepared to adapt to global changes and challenges. Việt Nam desires to enhance traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Asian, Latin American, African as well as non-aligned countries, the host stressed. All the guests agreed that all the delegations to the Forum had expressed their admiration to Việt Nam's economic development. They were confident in the country’s long-term economic prospect and the Government's solutions to curb inflation. The two former Presidents spoke highly of Việt Nam's achievements in economic development and poverty reduction, considering them as their useful lessons. By Phùng Lợi |
