PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng inspects Cần Thơ bridge collapse site

VNGOP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng directly flied on October 08 to the site of the collapse of the two approaching spans of the Cần Thơ Bridge. He ordered contractors to provide accurate records to the State Investigation Board into the incident.

The PM required the Investigation Board to promptly investigate the causes of the incident and exactly identify responsibility of every relating entity, so as to properly deal with derogation in line with Vietnamese laws and international practices. At the same time, the Board should submit proposals to stop weaknesses in State management of construction and industrial safety. The Government chief asked the contractors to facilitate the investigation work by providing adequate and accurate records to the Board.

PM Dũng ordered to temporarily pause the bidding package 2 (the whole Cần Thơ Bridge) until the competent agencies find out the incident’s causes and ensure the safety for the construction and laborers.

It is necessary to accelerate the bidding packages 1 and 3 (the bridge’s approaching roads in Vĩnh Long Province and Cần Thơ City) and pay attention to technical standards and safety, the PM was quoted as saying.

PM Dũng also visited and consoled the families of some victims killed in the incidents./.
