PM: VN will be a reliable partner in Mekong-Japan linkage
VGP – Việt Nam will function as an active player in carrying out activities to foster the cooperation between the Mekong Subregion and Japan, Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng underscored at a press briefing in Tokyo.

After wrapping the 1 st Summit Meeting between Japan and the Mekong Region Countries on Saturday in Tokyo , PMs of Japan and the Mekong countries presided over a press conference.
Leaders of the Mekong Sub-region and Japan were unanimous that the close cooperation between the two sides will benefit all stakeholders and facilitate the development of the ASEAN and Japan .
Noting that the cooperation between Việt Nam and the Mekong Sub-region countries and Japan is blossoming well in all fields, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng stressed that Việt Nam will be a reliable and active partner in consolidating the Mekong-Japan relationship.

New chances seen for the Mekong-Japan cooperation
Japanese PM Yukio Hatoyama briefed that, with the two sessions, the Summit once again confirmed the close relations between Japan and the Mekong region for over 400 years now.
Leaders frankly shared their opinions on various cooperation issues, focusing on infrastructure building, trade, and response to climate change.
The host PM reiterated Japan ’s view to placing importance on cooperation with the Mekong Sub-region and pledged an ODA fund of ¥500 billion to help the countries there.

He also welcomed other partners, such as China and the US , to establish and maintain cooperation with the Mekong Sub-region countries.
