After two years of implementing the planning scheme, 29 out of 90 planned golf courses have been put into operation.
Golf courses have effectively contributed to shifting economic structure at local level through provision of services, tourist attractions and job creation.
However, the implementation of the planning scheme showed limitations and the operating golf courses have yet generated enough jobs for local residents whose land was revoked for building golf courses as planned.
The Government plans to remove golf course projects still on hold out of the planning scheme.
Land for rice cultivation, protected or specially-purposed forests, industrial parks, and urban areas is banned from converting to golf course projects, the PM said.
Revoking business certificates
The Government chief has asked the provincial People’s Committees to instruct investors to deploy the projects they registered.
Investors’ business certificates will be revoked if they fail to realize their projects on time, or the projects are not effective or cause damage to the environment.
