PM meets Chinese counterpart at ASEAN Summit
VNGOP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had a meeting in the morning of November 19 with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao while attending the 13th ASEAN Summit and the ASEAN–China Summit held in Singapore. The two leaders thoroughly discussed the economic and trade ties between the two countries and border issues.
 | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao - Photo: VNGOP | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Premier Wen Jiabao agreed that, in the current international context, it is necessary to further consolidate bilateral cooperation and develop the Việt Nam-China relationship to a new height, in the interests and aspiration of the two peoples.  | The two PM in talks -Photo: VNGOP | On economic ties, the Chinese Premier supported PM Dũng’s proposals that the two sides should finalize the 5-year planning scheme to fruitfully implement "the Agreement on expansion of Việt Nam-China economic relations” as well as finish surveys to realize specific projects on “two corridors, one economic belt” to facilitate economic and trade cooperation among border provinces in particular and between the two countries in general. The two leaders also reached consensus on accelerating the demarcation and landmark planting in order to complete this work by 2008. Regarding the Gulf of Tonkin issue, the two sides agreed to continue cooperation in surveying aquatic resources, joint patrols of naval forces and exploration of oil and gas within the Gulf. They pledged to negotiate the demarcation of the Gulf’s mouth and discuss possibilities for development cooperation. On the East Sea issue, the two PMs asserted that the two sides should collaborate together to maintain peace and stability along with properly deal with all arisen issues through adoptable solutions, not harming the bilateral relationship. The two sides also agreed to further promote the three-side cooperation between Việt Nam–China–Philippines within the agreed areas.
