PM ratifies Central Highlands master plan till 2030

VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a master development plan for the Central Highlands till 2030.

Accordingly, the Central Highlands will become a trade gateway for countries in the Greater Mekong Sub-region and the East Sea.

The Central Highlands, which covers 54,641sq.km, includes the provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong.

By 2030, the population of the region is expected to reach 7,390,600 and the urbanization rate hitting 40.7%.

The northern part of the region (including Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces) will focus on developing the hydroelectric power industry and forming ecological tourism zones.

Dak Lak Province will promote the development of agriculture and the forestry processing industry, especially coffee production and export.

The southern part of the Central Highlands (consisting of Dak Nong and Lam Dong provinces) will concentrate on the service industry, tourism, mineral processing and exploitation and high-tech agriculture.

The Central Highlands will have 117 urban areas, 10 border gates, 24 industrial parks and 74 industry clusters by 2030.
