PM Dũng said that despite some progress in anti-corruption work in Q1, there are some shortcomings in combating bribery.

The Government chief noted the necessary to apply strict punishment on corruption convicts in order to deter other possible cases.   

Mr. Dũng asked ministries, agencies and localities to raise awareness of the anti-corruption work, especially on land management, bidding, public asset management, and budgetary control, while accelerating the investigation and prosecution of corruption cases.

The PM also asked his inferiors to early map out an action plan to realize the 11th National Party Congress Resolution on anti-graft.

Mr. Vũ Tiến Chiến, Chief of the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, reported that in the first two months this year, the Government Inspectorate put forth eight inspection conclusions on corruption cases, while ministries, agencies and localities conducted 949 inspection tours.

In the same period, the law enforcement agencies started investigation of 28 corruption cases, while prosecuted 35 other cases with 75 defendants, Chiến added./.
