VN attaches importance to developing ties with Philippines

VGP – Việt Nam always attaches importance to expanding the bilateral relations with the Philippines, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng while receiving Filipino FM Alberto F.del Rosario on Tuesday.

PM Dũng spoke highly of the results of the talks between Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm and FM Alberto F.del Rosario earlier on the same day, saying that the results would help boost the friendly relationship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

The Philippines is currently Việt Nam’s 5th biggest trade partner and  3rd export market in ASEAN. Two-way trade turnover stood at US $2.4 billion last year.

The Government chief urged competent agencies of the two sides to prepare well for the upcoming meeting of the Inter-governmental committee for cooperation, to acellerate the realization of the bilateral agreements signed by the two countries.

The PM also affirmed Việt Nam’s stable rice export to the Philippines.

FM Alberto F.del Rosario stated that during the talks the two FMs discussed measures to comprehensively spur the ties, particularly political, economic, diplomatic, cultural relations.

The FM also thanked Việt Nam for assisting the Philippines to ensure food security.

At present, nearly 60 Filipino enterprises are investing in Việt Nam with total registered capital of US $300 million, he said.
