Two new island communes recognized
VGP – The PM has recognized two communes in the central province of Quang Nam as island communes.
Accordingly, Tan Hiep commune in Hoi An city and Tam Hai commune in Nui Thanh district became island communes.
Tan Hiep commune has a total area of over 1,549 island hectares with a population of 2,284. The island houses two armed forces including battalion No 70 and Cu Lao Cham frontier post.
Tam Hai commune stretches over 1,330 hectares of island (accounting for 85.26% of land) with a population of 7,385. Two armed forces – An Hoa and Cua Lo check points were stationed in the island commune./.
