VN, China PMs hold talks to concretize strategic partnership

In an open and warm atmosphere, the two sides informed each other current situations in their respective countries, exchanging a wide range of ideas on ways to realize the Việt Nam-China strategic partnership, and discussing many regional and international issues of common concern.

The two PMs expressed their pleasure at the robust development of bilateral ties, coming to conclusion that the two sides would continue to exchange high-ranking visits, early put the hotline into operation, uphold the role of the Việt Nam-China Joint Committee for bilateral cooperation as well as existing mechanisms to speed up ministerial-level cooperation.

They also agreed to further raise their peoples’ awareness of the traditional Việt Nam-China friendship, strengthen cooperation among ministries, sectors and localities, enrich and preserve the good relationship from generation to generation.

Việt Nam proposed the joint celebration of China’s 60th National Day, 60 th anniversary of the Việt Nam-China diplomatic establishment, Việt Nam's 65th National Day; and the construction of the Việt Nam-China Friendship Palace.

The two sides agreed to assign their relevant ministries to work out ways for the healthy development of bilateral trade ties, quickly implement the cooperation scheme of "two corridors, one economic belt", centering on building transnational economic and tourist zones as well as sharing experience of economic development.

The two Government chiefs were pleased that the border demarcation and landmark planting work is in the final stage, paving the way for building the Việt Nam-China land borderline of peace and stability and deepening the strategic partnership.

The two sides also agreed to speed up negotiations on demarcating the sea area outside the Tonkin Gulf and continue to exchange ideas on cooperation in this area; at the same time work together to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea, enhance joint efforts in oil and gas exploration, scientific research, sea environmental protection, joint patrol, rescue rehearsals, anti-piracy and naval cooperation.

Right after the talks, the two sides signed an agreement on setting up a hotline between the two countries' senior leaders, an inter-governmental agreement on border health quarantine; a deal between the Import-Export Bank of China and the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance on providing soft credit loans to the Hà Nội-Hà Đông railway route; a deal between Hải Phòng and Shenzhen authorities to build a Việt Nam-China economic and trade zone in Hải Phòng; a pact for cooperation in 2009-2010 between the Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; a deal between PetroVietnam and the China Merchants Group (CMG) on building and operating the Sao Mai–Bến Đình port.
