VN, Italia promote defense cooperation
VGP – PM Nguyen Tan Dung has hoped that Viet Nam and Italia will further strengthen their defense ties by increasing the exchange of officers’ visits and cooperating in training and shipbuilding.

The PM made that statement at his reception for Italian Minister of Defense Admiral Giampaolo di Paola in Hanoi on January 10.
PM Dung highly spoke of the first official Viet Nam visit of an Italian Defence Minister at a time when the two countries are marking the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
He applauded the talks between the Italian Minister and his Vietnamese counterpart Phung Quang Thanh, noting that the official visit will contribute to stepping up the two nations’ cooperation.
Minister Giampaolo di Paola stressed that Italia is willing to enhance the cooperation with Viet Nam in terms of economics, trade, investment and national defense.
The two sides asserted the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security and safety in the East Sea, dealing with conflicts in the East Sea through peaceful measures with respect for intentional law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and promptly establishing a Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea.
