VN applauds WB’s consultancy
VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung has hailed the World Bank’s support and consultancy to the country in improving the banking system and affirmed the Government’s resolution in building an effective, transparent financial and banking system to international standards.

PM Dung made the statement during a meeting with WB Country Director Victoria Kwakwa in Ha Noi on February 11.
The PM valued Kwakwa’s ideas about Viet Nam’s improved investment environment and asked the WB to develop an analysis report about the investment environment in thr country to help define which sectors need further reform and in what areas.
To innovate State-owned enterprises, Viet Nam has equitized their ownership and put their administration in the market economy in order to improve the governance capacity and business efficiency, PM Dung said.
He affirmed the Government’s attention to forming a legal framework to attract investment in the form of public private partnership (PPP) and asked the WB to create favorable conditions for PPP transportation project building the route from Long Thanh-Dau Giay to Phan Thiet.
The Government leader agreed with Kwakwa about climate change consequences, saying that the Government paid great attention to the matter and considered it as a challenge to the country’s sustainable development.
He supported the viewpoint on coping with climate change with participation of different sectors, saying that the Government devised a strategic plan on coping with climate change and cooperate with the Dutch Government to develop a program on coping with sea level rise in the Mekong Delta.
Valuing the WB’s $300 million provision to Viet Nam for climate change mitigation, the leader expressed his hope that the bank will continue providing assistance to Viet Nam in planting protective coastal forests.
Kwakwa said that Viet Nam has made good impression in administrative reforms, particularly in taxation and social insurance and articulated her hope that the country will create breakthroughs in the future.
