VGP – Responding to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) declaration of the H1N1 flu epidemic, relevant authorities and agencies have to make every effort to prevent an influenza outbreak in Việt Nam, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng during a meeting with the National Steering Board for Human Influenza Control (NSBHIC) today in Hà Nội.

The PM praised the Ministry of Health (MoH), relevant authorities and agencies for their efforts to supervise, quarantine and take care of H1N1-infected patients, allowing no case of death in Việt Nam.

In a good sense of responsibility for people’s health and life, Việt Nam considers the prevention of pandemic outbreak the top short-term priority and represents the country’s determination to the international community, stated the PM.

The Government chief ordered the MoH and NSBHIC to keep a close watch on the development of the flu epidemic, promptly take reasonable measures, provide people with accurate information about the pandemic and preventive methods, early detect new cases for isolation and treatment, and prepare facilities for the worst possibilities.

In Việt Nam, up to June 12, there are 24 patients tested positive for swine flu virus. Four of them had come out of hospitals. The MoH has reserved 11-million doses of Tamiflu of which 400,000 were allocated to all localities.
