VN to join Int’l Energy Forum

VGP – Việt Nam will join the International Energy Forum (IEF) as an official member and sign the IEF Charter, according to the PM’s recent decision.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is assigned to participate in the IEF Ministerial Meeting scheduled on Feb. 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and sign the IEF Charter.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work with the MoIT to complete diplomatic procedures for the signing.

Founded 20 years ago, IEF is the world’s largest gathering of Energy Ministers. IEF comprises the International Energy Agency (IEA), OPEC countries, emerging countries such as Brazil, China, and India, accounting for more than 90% of global oil and gas supply and demand. 

*Joining ADB-funded project

Deputy PM and FM Phạm Gia Khiêm has recently approved a proposal for Viet Nam to join the Regional preparatory technical assistance project (R-PPTA).

The project, financed by ADB, is to promote trade activities via solutions to resolve issues relating to food hygiene and animal quarantine for the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). 

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is in charge of working with relevant ministries, agencies and foreign partners to put the project into reality./.
