VN wants to deepen relations with WB

VGP - The World Bank's (WB) assistance has effectively contributed to Việt Nam's economic achievements during the past years, said PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng today at the meeting with Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, WB Country Director in Việt Nam.

WB's proposals and ideas are rather helpful for Việt Nam to design policies on macro-economic stability, finance and currency in the context of the global economic crisis and recession, said the PM, adding that the country wants to cement the ties with WB.

Việt Nam has productively disbursed a large part of the WB-committed US $5.1-billion credits and loans for socio-economic development programs, noted Ms. Victoria Kwakwa.

The WB will continue to offer the Southeast Asian country US $3-3.5 billion for public investment and energy projects within 2010-12, she revealed, urging the Vietnamese Government to quickly set up a portfolio for those projects.

Highly valuing the WB's goodwill, the PM asserted that the Government will actively instruct ministries, sectors and localities to establish the portfolio as well as speed up the disbursement of the remaining US $3.7 billion of the US $5.1-billion sum.

PM Dũng also proposed that the international financial institution should enhance its credit assistance to the Government's prioritized projects on transport infrastructure, labor force training and healthcare.
