WB leader: The Bank willing to support VN
VGP – In his meeting with Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng this afternoon, Mr. Jame Adams, Vice President of the World Bank (WB), stated that WB and many other international organizations and countries are impressed by Việt Nam’s solutions to cope with the global economic downturn and ensure its economic growth and social security.
| | | Photo: VGP | Receiving Mr. James Adams and Ms. Victoria Kwakwa, WB Country Director for Việt Nam, Deputy PM Hùng said that Việt Nam is utilizing all internal and external strengths to early prevent economic recession and move on its way to a socialist-orientated market economy. He briefed the guests about Việt Nam’s current situations, especially the economic stimulus. Facing common difficulties, Việt Nam pays great attention to agricultural and rural development, improvement of people’s living standards, upgradation of social infrastructure, and sustainable poverty reduction. “Việt Nam expects to receive greater assistance from WB to speed up sustainable projects on infrastructure, education and social security”, said Deputy PM Hùng. Mr. James Adams expressed his hope that Việt Nam, and other countries, should continue liberating its trade, promoting international integration and exchange, and updating information about daily changes of the world economy. Ms. Victoria Kwakwa asserted that, despite current difficulties and challenges, Việt Nam also has many good chances to accelerate its reforms. She emphasized that WB wants to work with the Vietnamese Government and is ready to share its experience of making policies to cope with the economic crisis. She suggested Việt Nam should thoroughly deal with such issues as environment, urban infrastructure and human resource. By Xuân Hồng |
