VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng just had a reception this evening, October 10, with newly-appointed Australian Ambassador to Việt Nam, Mr. Allaster Edward Cox.

Gov’t: VN’s economy healthy enough to face impacts of the US financial crisis
VGP – The Cabinet convened a meeting, chaired by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, on October 1 in Hà Nội, to consider possible negative impacts of the US financial and credit crisis on the world and Việt Nam’s economies. The meeting also aimed at working out solutions to overcome difficulties and challenges to stabilize macro-economy and maintain proper growth.

Continue to curb inflation and maintain growth in the rest months, says PM
VGP – Presiding over the Government’s regular meeting on September 29-30, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng emphasized that, in the last quarter, the Government, ministries, sectors and local authorities must focus on priorities of reining in inflation, stabilizing macro-economy, ensuring social security and proper growth.

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on September 26 received a delegation from the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and leaders of some Japanese corporations, led by Mr. Hiroyuki Yoshino, JCCI special adviser and President of Honda Motor Co.

PM urges VN, Ukraine to boost multifaceted cooperation

Emergency aid to Laos
VGP – The PM approved on September 22 an emergency aid of US $100,000, allocated from the State budget for 2008, to help the Lao Government to deal with damages caused by recent floods.
UNDP-funded projects ratified
VGP – The PM ratified on September 22 the portfolio “Enhancing institutional capacity to control natural calamities in Việt Nam, especially hazards relating to climate change” sponsored by the United Nations Development Program.

Gov’t leaders consult foreign economists
VGP- Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his Deputies, together with leaders and senior experts from some ministries and sectors on September 20 held a consultation with foreign economists on the world economy, Việt Nam’s economic development and prospects in the rest of the year and 2009.
