China is VN’s leading trade partner, says PM
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, on October 23, attended and gave speech at the the Việt Nam-China Business Forum and Asia-Europe Business Forum (AEBF). He also had separate reception with Maltese PM Lawrence Gonzi, Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Long, Finish President Tarjia Halonen, and Polish PM Donald Tusk who are participating in the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

Addressing the Forum, the Vietnamese PM highlighted the geographical adjacency of Việt Nam and China a good premise to enhance their comprehensive cooperation. China is now Việt Nam’s number-one partner. The two-way trade turnover of the two countries is estimated to increase from US $16 billion in 2007 to US $21 billion this year. Over 600 China-invested projects are being conducted in Việt Nam, valuing US $2 billion. PM Dũng emphasized, “The visit made by the Vietnamese Government delegation aims at finding out measures to concretize the strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation, prioritizing trade and investment to raise the two-way trade turnover to US $25 billion in 2010”. After the forum, PM Dũng witnessed the signing of some cooperation pacts between enterprises of the two countries, focusing on mining, transportation, construction, production of materials, science and technology. | | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng at the AEBF – Photo: VGP | At the 11 th AEBF, PM Dũng applauded and advocated the forum’s theme “Seize the Trend, Time for Action and Public-Private Partnership”. He stated that many topics discussed at the Forum for over past two days illustrate the Asian-Europe business circle’s awareness of their mission at this particular important moment for the development and prosperity of the two continents. PM Dũng confirmed that Việt Nam is proactively improving its legal environment to give best conditions to foreign investors in all socio-economic fields through public-private patterns. According to him, the hard time currently faced by the global economy is a good chance to consolidate the Asia-Europe cooperation, especially in public-private partnership, including the relations within the business circle and among governments. “It is time when we should further promote the involvement of the private sector into the fields where the State investment is unnecessary or ineffective”, said the PM.
