Gov’t allocates large funds to upgrade hospitals

VGP – The Government chief just approved a project on mobilizing governmental bond capital and other legal resources to build and upgrade specialty hospitals and some provincial-level polyclinics in mountainous and disadvantaged areas in the period of 2009-2013.

Hospitals are upgraded to provide better health services to people

The total investment capital for the project is estimated at VND 45,280 billion.

The sum will be used to build, upgrade and equip 78 central and provincial-level polyclinics; 55 tuberculosis hospitals; 40 mental hospitals and insane asylums; 33 hospitals of paediatrics and obstretics, nine tumor hospitals and seven tumor departments of some Ministry of Health-administered or provincial-level polyclinics, National Institute for Tropical Contagious Diseases, and the Cần Thơ University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Twenty three disadvantaged mountainous provinces, tuberculosis, mental, paediatric, tumor hospitals, National Institute for Tropical Contagious Diseases, and the Cần Thơ University of Medicine and Pharmacy will receive a whole-package aid to meet their remaining demand for investment.

Hospitals in Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh, Vĩnh Phúc, Đà Nẵng, Khánh Hòa, Cần Thơ and former Hà Tây Provinces are funded to meet 60% of their demand.

Those in Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu, Hà Nội, and Hồ Chí Minh City receive 30%.

Polyclinics, tumor hospitals, paediatric and obstretic departments are financed up to 80%.
