Gov't works with HCMC to curb inflation
VNGOP- During a working session with leaders of Hồ Chí Minh City on April 8 with a view to reviewing the city's socio-economic development in the first quarter and setting up major tasks for the remaining quarters of 2008, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng emphasized that HCMC, the country's economic momentum, should spare no efforts to attain a high and sustainable growth rate.
| | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng chairs the working session - Photo: VNGOP | According to the PM, apart from enhancing solutions to curb inflation, HCMC should further instruct the implementation of socio-economic development plans set in 2008 by perfecting institutions, building infrastructure, boosting administrative reforms, raising the quality of education and training, and maintaining national defense and security. PM Dũng maintained that HCMC should closely work with ministries and sectors to lift urgent difficulties, particularly financial problems, in order to promote productions and facilitate investments. He also suggested the City positively reconsider its tax policies to manage the market. The leader urged the City to embrace policies on attracting more investors, especially foreign ones, ensure food and energy security, strictly deal with goods speculation which can lead to sudden price increases. In addition, the municipal authority should proactively popularize its economic development plans and strategies among the common people. Concluding the meeting, the PM asked the city's leaders to pay attention to improving people's living standards, particularly low-income workers, farmers and poor laborers. By Thanh Thúy |
