The objective of the project is to increase access to sustainable water services and environmental sanitation in selected urban areas in the provinces of Bình Dương, Bình Phước, Nghệ An, Thanh Hóa, Quảng Ninh, Quảng Nam, Quảng Trị, Lâm Đồng, Ninh Bình, and Kiên Giang.

The Ministry of Construction will be responsible for supervising the implementation of the legal framework.

Earlier on June 28, 2011, the Government chief gave the nod to the outcomes of negotiations on the project and entrusted the State Bank of Việt Nam to sign a credit agreement and related documents with representatives of the World Bank.

In April, 2011, PM Dũng agreed to set up a negotiation delegation to discuss the project-related documents with the World Bank.
