Most modern cable-stayed bridge inaugurated in HCMC

VGP – The inauguration of the Phú Mỹ cable-stayed bridge was held this morning in Hồ Chí Minh City.

The bridge connecting Districts 2 and 7 has the total length of nearly 10km, including the 2.5-km main bridge and the 1.3-km approaching spans. With the width of 27.5m, the bridge can serve six lanes of vehicles.

Having the navigation space of 45m, the Phú Mỹ bridge allows 30,000 DWT vessels to run below.

Phú Mỹ is told to be the largest-scale cable-stayed bridge in Việt Nam so far and the symbolic transport work of Hồ Chí Minh City.

The design and construction of the bridge was consulted and supervised by many leading groups from Australia, France, Germany, and the UK.

It helps to increase the traffic capacity of Hồ Chí Minh City and the key southern economic zone, reducing traffic jams in the City’s center.

The completion of the most important item of Hồ Chí Minh City’s belt road 2 is expected to improve the City’s transport system and socio-economic development.
