Under the plan, aimed at converting Bến Tre into an important economic hub in the Southern region, the locality will strive to raise its GDP and export turnover’s average annual growth rates to 13.8% and 20% respectively in the 2011-2020 period.  

The province will focus on developing its strategic and special products including fruits, coconut, shrimps, ornament flowers, pork and beef.

In addition, the province will build and develop large-scale production areas for agro-forestry and fishery in line with the current cultivation standards.

Bến Tre plans to put aside around 25,000 hectares for rice cultivation, 54,000 hectares for coconut development, 33,600 hectares for fruit growing, and 31,100 hectares for fish farming./.
