PM approves plan on coastal economic zones
VGP – According to the Planning Scheme for the development of coastal economic zones (CEZs) to 2020 just ratified by the PM, key economic zones will be founded in order to boost up the development of poor coastal areas.

The general orientation is to establish a system of 15 CEZs nationwide while restructuring the local economy towards industrialization and modernization. It is necessary to effectively make use of lands, water surfaces and space of all CEZs.
To accelerate the development of already-founded CEZs, the Planning Scheme points out some important tasks: to design investment plans for each zones; enhance investment promotion and international cooperation; further invest in technical and social infrastructure in each and every CEZs.
Up to 2020, CEZs are expected to contribute 15-20% of the country’s total GDP and generate 1.3-1.5 million non-agricultural jobs.
15 CEZs in Việt Nam: Vân Đồn (Quảng Ninh Province), Đình Vũ-Cát Hải (Hải Phòng), Nghi Sơn (Thanh Hóa), Southeast Nghệ An (Nghệ An), Vũng Áng (Hà Tĩnh), Hòn La (Quảng Bình), Chân Mây-Lăng Cô (Thừa Thiên Huế), Open Chu Lai (Quảng Nam), Dung Quất (Quảng Ngãi), Nhơn Hội (Bình Định), South Phú Yên (Phú Yên), Vân Phong (Khánh Hòa), Phú Quốc (Kiên Giang), Định An (Trà Vinh) and Năm Căn (Cà Mau).
