PM chairs conference reviewing social policies
VGP - PM Nguyen Tan Dung on Thursday chaired a national online conference to review the three-year implementation of the Government’s action plan to realize the Party Central Committee’s Resolution on several issues related to social policies in the 2012-2020 period.

The conference saw the presence of Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam and leaders of several ministries, agencies and central-governed cities and provinces.
Opening the gathering, PM Dung stressed the objectives and importance of the conference, asking participants to analyze and evaluate the achieved outcomes and shortcomings, draw experiences and seek solutions for better implementation in the future.
According to the central steering committee which is in charge of implementing the action plan, the Party’s Resolution is a large policy that has contributed to improving the public sector’s awareness in building and implementing policies on poverty reduction and social welfare.
Despite numerous difficulties in the 2012-2015 period, the National Assembly and the Government paid great attention and prioritize resources to realize social policies. Meanwhile, local authorities have actively mobilized additional resources for social welfare.
Statistics show that nearly 1.4 million people with meritorious services to the revolution have benefited from monthly allowances over the past years. The total State funding increased to more than VND 31 trillion in 2014 from nearly VND 26 trillion in 2012.
Approximately 1.6 million jobs have been created annually and the unemployment rate fell from 2.18% in 2012 to 2.08% in 2015. Of the figure, 340,000 workers were sent abroad.
Nearly four million poor people accessed preferential credit with the total volume of VND 67 trillion and eight million students were financially supported or exempted from school fees.
Moreover, approximately four million disadvantaged people were presented with medical insurance cards, according to the statistics./.
