PM orders to strictly control market and prices

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on August 3 issued an official telegram urging all ministries, agencies and localities to impose price-controlling measures in the domestic market in order to curb price soar.

The Government chief ordered all provincial-level People’s Committees to promptly work on specific solutions, drastically investige and prevent goods speculation and unreasonable raising of prices, strickly supervise the conformation of government-advocated regulations on stablizing prices of some goods to late 2008 (electricity, coal, water, public bus fees). Any violation will be punished.

The leader instructed the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Health to establish working teams to check costs and selling prices of some commodities and services in key areas, Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City for instance, especially fertilizers, medicine, transport fees, and milk.

Economic groups and state-owned enterprises were asked to adopt measures against rising prices, such as cutting costs, spending and interest rate.
