According to the planning scheme just approved by the PM, the EZ will be also a concentration of trade services-oriented industries and urban quarters.

The overall scheme upon 2025 was recently agreed by the PM.

The Nam Giang EZ covers Chà Vàl and La Dêê Communes in Nam Giang District, stretching out in 1,047 hectares.

Its population is expected to grow to around 10,000 and 15,100 in 2015 and 2025 respectively.

It consists of three key sub-zones and several rural residence areas.

The first sub-zone, Nam Giang Border Gate, serves customs, trade and service activities.

Located in Chà Vàl, the second sub-zone includes urban quarters, duty-free zones, industrial parks, commercial centers, public administrative offices, and areas for rural residents.

The last one in La Dêê will be a public administrative center.

Once coming into operation, the Nam Giang EZ will stimulus local socio-economic development; improve living standards of local residents, especially ethnic minorities; keep the balance between economic growth and environment protection; ensure national defense; preserve local cultural traditions; and foster economic ties with Laos and Thailand.
