PM’s meetings with many heads of state in New York
VNGOP – In the morning of September 25 (local time), PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in New York to attend the 62nd UN General Assembly. Then, the PM had many meetings with leaders of other countries in order to enhance bilateral ties and canvass these countries for votes to Việt Nam’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

They all highly valued Việt Nam’s high and sustainable socio-economic growth rate as well as its increasing role and position in the regional and international arenas. President Daniel Ortega Saavedra confirmed that Nicaragua recognizes Việt Nam as a market economy. The Ecuadorian President praised Việt Nam a good example in protecting national independence and constructing the country. The Guinean PM expressed his desire to increase economic and trade ties with Việt Nam, especially in agriculture. The Italian PM considered Việt Nam an attractive destination for investors and showed his confidence that more Italian investors will enter Việt Nam. | ... the Italian PM |  | ...and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng affirmed Việt Nam’s consistent policy to strengthen traditional friendship and cooperation with all countries for peace, stability and prosperity in the regions and the world. He asked the leaders to canvass others for supports to Việt Nam as the non-permanent member of the UN Security Council during the 2008-2009 tunure. On the same day, Deputy PM, Foreign Minister Phạm Gia Khiêm had meetings with the Lithuanian counterpart and FMs of Estonia, Ukraine, Vanuatu, and Sudan.
