Planning Central VN economic zone as a trade hub in Asia-Pacific
VGP - Under a new planning scheme, recently ratified by the PM, in the time to come, the Central Việt Nam key economic zone will become a hub for commercial exchanges and processing activities in the Mekong Delta and the Asia-Pacific Region.
 | Đà Nẵng City will be a core urban area of the Central Việt Nam key economic zone | The economic zone, consisting of Đà Nẵng City, Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định Provinces, is expected to be a motion for the socio-economic development of Central Việt Nam and the Central Highlands, focusing on marine industries and services. With nearly 28,000 km 2 , the region possesses various cultural and historical heritage sites and beautiful landscapes. Its major sub-region is the marine and coastal economic space, forming an international free trade and economic corridor along the coast which leans on National Highway 1A, trans-Việt Nam railway route, and seaport system. A chain of urban areas will be built to forge the regional development. There are also industrial parks, export processing zones, national and international entrepots, and international seaports linked with trans-regional and national communication hubs. A coastal tourism corridor will be founded by connecting various tourist attractions. The scheme clearly defines that Đà Nẵng, Huế, Quy Nhơn, Vạn Tường, and Núi Thành should be converted into big investment absorbers. Four groups of satellite towns, with Đà Nẵng as the central city, will be established. As expected, by 2025, the region will have 86 urban quarters, including 46 new ones. By Hương Giang |
