South Central Coast: A future concentration of marine industries

VGP – By 2025, as scheduled, the South Central Coast will be converted into a multi-field economic zone, serving as a sea gateway for the Central Highlands, Laos’ Southern provinces, Northeast of Cambodia, and Thailand.

Essential marine economic industries will be promoted in South Central Coast

According to the overall planning scheme for South Central Coast by 2025, ratified by the PM on August 12, this area covers four provinces: Phú Yên, Khánh Hòa, Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận, with the total natural area of 21,432km².

This will be a concentration of many essential marine economic industries and a marine eco-tourist zone with bays, lagoons and mountains. It will function as the transitional area between the key economic zones in Central and South of Việt Nam.

A major economic urbanized zone will be established to the east, along National Highway 1A and the coastal corridor.

This will be built into a multi-polar semi-concentrated urban area, with Nha Trang and Phan Thiết as central cities.

Specific orientations for infrastructure expansion were defined, including the improvement of an internal transport network by upgrading and building some seaports, airports, heliports and railway lines.

In addition, the Vân Phong Economic Zone will be equipped with an international container port, hi-tech projects, smart cities, sustainable urban quarters and and coastal resorts.
