Addressing a conference on the population and family planning work on July 18 in Hà Nội, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng urged the competent bodies to fulfill the set targets.

The PM asked them to review the work and spare no efforts to put the goals into reality.

According to the Government chief, it is necessary to design specific programs and plans of actions; complete the system of mechanisms and legal policies; and perfect the organizational structure and functions of the health sector in general and the population-family planning work in particular.

He confirmed that the Government always places importance on the work and is willing to allocate sufficient finance this field.

According to the Mo's report, Vietnam has now a population of 85.2 million people, ranking 13th and 3rd in the world and ASEAN respectively.

Việt Nam are now facing six big population-related challenges: fast-growing population size; unstably going-down birthrate; irregular use of contraceptive device; low population standard hindering the cause of industrialization and modernization; changing population structure challenging economic development; and uneven distribution of population and increasing emigration.
