VN, Japan to closely join hands in dealing with Cần Thơ incident, said PM

VNGOP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng gave a reception in the afternoon of October 9 in Hà Nội to the Japanese PM’s special envoy, Deputy Foreign Minister Kimura Hitoshi who is on a working visit in Việt Nam.

Mr. Kimura Hitoshi conveyed to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng the deep condolences from his Government on the accident at the Cần Thơ Bridge – a project granted with Japanese ODA. He expected that, with great efforts made by both Vietnamese and Japanese sides, the last missing person would be found and the incident’s causes identified soon.

The guest reconfirmed that the Japanese Government would do its best to collaborate with the Vietnamese partners in finding out the causes and compensating victims for their loss. He informed that the Japanese Government had established an investigation board into the incident.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng highly appreciated the Japanese Government and relevant agencies for their responsibilities in searching and rescuing victims as well as cooperating with the Vietnamese competent bodies in investigation work. PM Dũng hoped that the two sides would continue closely joining hands to settle the case in line with Vietnamese laws and international practices.

* Earlier, on October 8, Deputy FM Kimura Hitoshi arrived at the incident site and worked with leaders of Cần Thơ City and Vĩnh Long Province. He revealed that the Japanese Government had dispatched excellent experts to Việt Nam to engage in investigation work./.
