The move aims to advertise images of Viet Nam’s land, people and culture to other countries and territories in Asia and the world.
Besides sending documents to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Viet Nam will establish a campaign to canvas for hosting ASIAD, which is headed by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
According to the plan, the 18th ASIAD would be held in December 2019 in Ha Noi and other 14 cities and provinces of Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam and Phu Tho.
Forty five countries and territories might attend the event with 10,000 trainers and competitors.
And, 35 sports would be included, namely archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cricket, cycling, driving, equestrian, field hockey, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, handball, judo, kabaddi, Karate, modern pentathlon, rowing, rugby union, sailing, sepaktakraw, shooting, soft tennis, squash, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.
