VN seeks WB’s assistance for Project 135

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has recently approved the establishment of a delegation to negotiate with the World Bank (WB) to seek finance for the Second Phase of the Program 135.

The delegation comprises representatives from the Presidential Office, the Office of Government, the State Audit of Việt Nam, the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV), the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. 

Director General of the SBV’s International Cooperation Department Thịnh Thị Hồng was authorized to be the head of the negotiating delegation. 

The SBV was assigned to work with the Committee and the related ministries to prepare for the negotiation and report the negotiation outcomes to the PM.

The second phase of the Project 135 targets to reduce the poverty rate to less than 10%, gradually reduce development gap among regions, provide water and electricity to 90% of the population, eradicate temporary houses, prevent environmental degradation, and others.
