WB helps promote coastal resources management

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the outcomes of negotiation on accredit agreement for the World Bank-funded project "Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development.”

The Government chief assigned Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam to sign the agreement with the World Bank.

The objective of the project is to improve the sustainable management of coastal fisheries in the project provinces.

There are four components to the project. The first component is institutional capacity strengthening for sustainable fisheries management.

The second component is good practices for sustainable aquaculture. This component will support good aquaculture practices through: (a) improved bio-security management; (b) improved seed quality management; and (c) improved environmental management.

The third component is sustainable management of near-shore capture fisheries. This component will support: (a) co-management of near-shore capture fisheries; and (b) rehabilitation of fishing ports and landing sites.

The fourth component is project management, monitoring and evaluation. This component will support: (a) project management; and (b) monitoring and evaluation.
