In recent years, Yên Bái has made great efforts restructure its economy towards industrialization.

The province has spent VND 650 billion on building infrastructure and irrigation work, boosting afforestation, reclaiming wet-rice paddies, and financing agro-forestry production.

Every year, over 17,000 new jobs are generated. Primary education has been popularized in all communes and wards.

Highly speaking of those achievements, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng suggested Yên Bái make use of its geographical location in the Kunming–Hà Nội economic corridor as well as its abundance of natural resources and minerals to develop such industries as cement, building material, mining, and hydroelectricity.

Food processing, husbandry, tourism, and services should be promoted, said the PM.
