Gov’t chief wants Central Highlands province to make use of its potentials
VGP - In his meeting with leaders of the Central Highlands province of Lâm Đồng on Wednesday, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng urged the province to make full use of its natural conditions and resources, especially forests, farming lands, and minerals , in order to promote agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, tourism, services, and processing industry.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng showed his agreement with the targets set by Lâm Đồng, including the GDP growth rate of 12.5-13.5%, per capita income of around US $1,000, and the arrival of over 3 million domestic and foreign tourists.

With its climate advantages, the province should focus on developing tourism as one of its backbone industries, stressed the PM.
He
also underlined the significance of agriculture, forestry, aquaculture,
horticulture, and husbandry in the local economic structure.
The
Government chief urged Lâm Đồng to pay attention to capital
disbursement and drawing investment in order to upgrade infrastructure,
especially in ethnic minority areas, promote poverty reduction,
vocational training and epidemic prevention.

- GDP growth rate: over 10.7%
- Agro-forestry and fishery growth rate: 13.1%
- Revenue from horticulture: VND 500-1,000 million/ha and from tea planting VND 160-250 million/ha. The province possesses over 100 varieties of vegetables, flower, tea, coffee, rice and maize of all kinds, and 35 bi-technology breeding facilities.
- The province expects to produce 400 tons of salmon and earns VND 4 billion per hectare in 2009.

Lâm Đồng is endowed with a great reserve of bauxite, standing at about 975 million tons of crude ore.
Thus, the PM asked the provincial government to shake hands with the Việt Nam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group to implement the Lâm Đồng bauxite-alumina complex on schedule.
