PM Dũng also named four Vice Chairmen of the National Committee, namely Minister of Public Security Trần Đại Quang, Minister of Health Nguyễn Thị Kim Tiến, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Phạm Thị Hải Chuyền, and Vice Chairman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Hà Thị Liên.

Members of the National Committee are representatives from different ministries.

Following Decision No. 61/2000/QD-TTg dated on June 5 2000, the National Committee for Prevention and Control of AIDS, Drug and Prostitution merged the Government's Steering Committee for Social Vices Prevention and Fight, the National Committee for Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Fight and the National Committee for AIDS Prevention and Fight.

The National Committee assists the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating the prevention of AIDS, drug use and prostitution.
