PM Dũng receives heads of state to ASEM 7
VGP – On the sideline of the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 7), PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had separate meetings on October 23 in Beijing with Maltese PM Lawrence Gonzi, Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Long, Finish President Tarja Halonen, and Polish PM Donald Tusk.

At the same time, the two PMs agreed to enhance cultural exchanges in order to deepen friendship and mutual understanding. The Maltese leaders confirmed his support Việt Nam’s proposal to the EC for recognition of its market economic status. | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng receives Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Long - Photo: VGP | Sharing their opinions to deal with the global financial crisis, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Long underlined the need to consolidate their respective financial and banking systems as well as further exchange their policies, closely work with international financial organizations like WB, IMF, ADB, follow changes of the stock market, and solidify investors’ trust. The two leaders showed their pleasure at the realization of the Economic Connection Agreement and stressed the need to put the Chiang Mai Declaration into reality. | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Finish President Tarja Halonen - Photo: VGP | Expressing her deep impression during her recent visit to Việt Nam, Finland’s President Tarja Halonen pledged to further enhance an equal partnership with Việt Nam as well as give more development aid to Việt Nam. The two sides agreed to cement and deepen bilateral cooperation and mutual assistance in all fields and on international forums. Mentioning the upcoming ASEM7, the two leaders agreed that efforts to deal with the financial crisis will cause no harm to the commitments of poverty alleviation and environment protection. | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in the meeting with Polish PM Donald Tusk - Photo: VGP | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Polish PM Donald Tusk were convinced that the Việt Nam–Poland relationship will continue to develop and expand to various potential fields, such as shipbuilding, mining, agriculture, electronics, mechanics, and food. The two sides vowed to accelerate cultural cooperation to lay the foundation for the bilateral friendship. PM Dũng emphasized that Việt Nam hopes Poland to proactively support Việt Nam to strengthen its relations with the EU. PM Donald Tusk pledged to back Việt Nam in negotiations for the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with the EU. |
