The plant is built in Khánh An Commune of U Minh District. The US $900-million project has the design capacity of 800,000 tons of nitrogenous fertilizers per year. PetroVietnam had inked an EPC contract with the Wuhan Designing Company and the China Machinery Import-Export Corporation. The plant is equipped with modern technologies imported from Denmark and Italy. It is scheduled to come into operation after 43 months of construction.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng emphasized that this is an important project which can help to boost the development in the southwest and enrich the supplies of fertilizers, so as to stabilize the price of this product at home.

The PM asked the contractors to observe their commitments while ensuring the quality and schedule of the project.
