PM urges central province to become economic hub
VNGOP –Nghệ An should try to become an industrial province by 2020 as well as a center of industry, tourism, trade, education, health, culture and science in northern Central Việt Nam, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng emphasized.

The PM made the emphasis while working with senior leaders of the central province of Nghệ An on February 17 during his ongoing visit to the province.

At the working session, PM Dũng urged Nghệ An to attract more domestic and foreign investors ; establish growth poles and economic zones ; boost some industries and products in order to create impetus for economic growth and restructure towards industrialization and modernization; train high-skilled labor force and develop infrastructure; and provide major products in industries of comparative advantages, especially such services as tourism, trade, transport, posts and telecommunications, education, health, banking, and insurance.
The Government chief also hastened the province to expand and upgrade its roads, airport and seaports.

Earlier, on February 16, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng visted some historical sites assocaited to President Hồ Chí Minh and to several major projects within Nghệ An.

Nghệ An is located in northen Central Việt Nam, having the largest area (16,487km2) and a population of over 3 million. The province possesses a developed transport network of roads, railway, river ways, airports and seaports. In 2008, Nghệ An targets to gain a GDP growth rate of 11-12%, generate 34,000 jobs and attract more foreign investors.
