Russia is an important partner of VN

VGP – During their receptions given to Russian FM Sergei Lavrov who is on a working visit here on Saturday, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng hailed the Russian Federation an important strategic partner and a loyal friend of Việt Nam. They expected the two countries to promote comprehensive cooperation commensurate to the flourishing bilateral relationship.

Both State President Nguyễn Minh Triết and PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng were pleased with the advancement of the Việt Nam-Russian strategic partnership, especially in politics, security, national defense, education, science, economics and trade.
Over the past time, Việt Nam and Russia have always been unanimous in solving many international and regional issues, fruitfully supporting each other on international forums, such as the UN, APEC, ASEAN, and ARF.
The host leaders highly spoke of the bilateral cooperation in exploring and exploiting petroleum in the continental shelf of Việt Nam.
Applauding such Russian groups as GAZPROM and the Russian Central Bank for their cooperation with Vietnamese counterparts, the leaders encouraged Russian enterprises to continue their involvement in large-scale projects in Việt Nam in energy, infrastructure construction, building subways, and hi-tech industries. They commited to create favorable conditions for Russian investors to do business here

In his meetings with the Vietnamese State and Government leaders, FM Sergei Lavrov stated that his President Dmitry Medvedev and PM Vladimir Putin place importance on the Russia-Việt Nam relationship and want to speed up the realization of the high-level agreements inked during the visit to Russia made by President Nguyễn Minh Triết in October 2008.
The guest said that Russia is looking for the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Central Banks of the two countries which will help facilitate bilateral economic and commercial cooperation activities, especially in the context of the current global economic crisis.
He revealed that the two Foreign Ministries are preparing for the official visit to Việt Nam of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev which is scheduled for 2010 on the occasion of the 60 th anniversary of diplomatic establishment between Russia and Việt Nam.
