VN, UK look towards a comprehensive, stable and long-lasting partnership for development
VGP – Receiving Prince Andrew, Duke of York, UK Government’s special representative for trade and international investment, on September 9 in Hồ Chí Minh City, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng expressed his hope that, the two countries will further strengthen their comprehensive relationship, prioritizing economic, commercial and educational ties.
 | | PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Prince Andrew - Photo: VGP | The comprehensive, stable and long-lasting Việt Nam-UK partnership for development was agreed by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and his British counterpart Gordon Brown during the former’s UK tour in March 2008. With the two-way trade of nearly US $2 billion in 2007, Việt Nam and the UK have many potentialities and advantages for economic cooperation in the time to come. PM Dũng stated that Việt Nam wants to expand its cooperation with the UK in such fields as finance, banking, insurance and petroleum. He also asked the UK Government to increase scholarship given to Vietnamese students as well as assist Việt Nam to train English teachers. Prince Andrew appreciated Việt Nam’s socio-economic achievements which, he believed, would help consolidate the confidence of foreign investors, including those from the UK.
