VN pledges to work with int’l community in tackling climate change

VNGOP- At a reception to Danish Ambassador Peter Hansen and UN Resident Coordinator in Việt Nam John Hendra on April 18, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng hailed the international community for proactively supporting Việt Nam to realize the National Goal Program on Researching Global Climate Change.

PM Dũng asserted that Việt Nam will spare no effort, together with the international community, to address the problems of global climate change. Nevertheless, as a developing country, Việt Nam is looking for more assistance from developed countries in this field, said the PM.

The two guests all pledged to support Việt Nam’s researches on global climate change. UN Coordinator John Hendra revealed that a group of donors was founded to support Việt Nam in the area. Meanwhile, Danish Ambassador Peter Hansen stated that, in the coming time, Denmark will fund Việt Nam with US $25 million to do research and draft projects on coping with climate change.
