Benchmark interest rate lowered to 10%
VGP - The PM today allowed the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV) to cut the prime interest rate from 11% down to 10% per annum, the refinancing rate and overnight rate in the inter-bank electronic payment from 12% down to 11%, rediscount rate from 10% down to 9%, and the compulsory reserve deposit rate in VND to 9% from 10%.
Foreign-funded projects approved
VGP – The Government chief on November 28 approved the technical support project "Comprehensive socio-economic development of Việt Trì City (Phú Thọ Province) and Đông Hà Town (Quảng Trị Province)" financed by the Asia Development Bank (ADB).

PM urges simplification of administrative procedures
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng just ordered ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, chairpersons of provincial-level People’s Committees to drastically direct the realization of the Plan on simplifying administrative procedures in State management, period 2007-2010 (called Plan 30).
ADB give more loans for poverty reduction
VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng yesterday approved the results of negotiations for the treaty and related documents on an Asia Development Bank (ADB) loan to finance the poverty reduction program V, sub-program I. The Governor of the State Bank of Việt Nam (SBV) was authorized to ink the treaty with representatives of ADB.

VGP – The Government chief today agreed that the Ministry of Transport (MoT) would appoint consultants for the feasible investment project on road maintenance, a component of the Project to upgrade and improve road network (Project WB4).

VGP – The PM on October 31 approved the Plan to build and develop Hải Phòng City in the period of national industrialization and modernization from 2008 to 2015.
Gov’t orders prompt measures to address flood outcomes
VGP – The PM issued on November 3 a note urging leaders of flood-hit localities to mobilize all forces and take all necessary measures to quickly deal with the consequences of floods and heavy rains, stabilize people’s life and recover production activities. The Government leaders have also come to heavily-damaged areas to direct the rescue work.
